Depending on corrosion-protection requirements, they may be supplied plain, zinc plated, mechanically galvanized or hot-dip galvanized (HDG).<h3>Stainless Steel Washers</h3>Stainless steel washers are commonly specified where corrosion resistance is important. Typical grades include 304/316 and A2/A4 stainless steel. DTIs contain specially formed protrusions that compress during tightening. The resulting gap is assessed according to the applicable installation procedure and manufacturer's requirements.Common Standards: ASTM F959/F959M – Compressible-Washer-Type Direct Tension Indicators for Use with Structural Fasteners.Applications: Structural steel connections, bridges, buildings, industrial structures and heavy structural fabrication.Unlike relying solely on applied torque, a DTI provides an indication associated with bolt tension, making it useful where specified bolt pretension needs to be verified.<h3>7.
